Based on Sega’s Naomi build, the Atomiswave accepted cartridges to allow for easier game switching as well as different control setups. After the Neo Geo was reaching the end of its lifespan, SNK Playmore chose the Atomiswave setup to use as its next platform of choice. This has less power than the Naomi system board but can accept many types of inputs such as trackballs.
