Naomi

First demonstrated in 1998 the Naomi system is an extension of their Dreamcast console. And also like the Sega ST-V the games run on ROM boards instead of the Dreamcast proprietary GD-Rom format. This was a successful format with many third party licensees taking the system on board. Classic titles such as Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and Guilty Gear XX used the Naomi system. A later version (dubbed the Hikaru) succeeded this format (the same spec albeit with better video capabilities). This was short-lived due to expense and was shelved to allow for Naomi 2.
